The Utah Fits All Scholarship has been incredibly helpful to our family’s ability to choose what is best for our last two of twelve children. In hindsight, I only wish I had applied for our high school senior as well!
Our boys tend to have social anxieties that hamper them from asking for help in a school environment. Traevon, a freshman, has already earned six early high school credits over the last few years by attending an online school. This enabled him to take this year more slowly and use some of his scholarship funds to enroll in classes at the local high school. It’s so helpful to his mental health to be able to take a little more time. He will likely purchase a computer to use for upcoming online courses. He will be able to earn a high school diploma and begin college courses if he chooses.
Our 12-year old, Vance, has particularly struggled with dyslexia over the years. He has purchased a fantastic reading program that has really helped, as well as a great math program. He has used the funds for a couple of science box subscriptions and a cooking box subscription, which are awesome. With his cooking subscription he makes a meal, with recipes from countries around the world, every week. What a fantastic way to learn about other cultures, countries, herbs, and spices! He will also purchase a computer for future online courses.
We are really excited about this scholarship and hope that it will be expanded to include more children in the very near future! We have grandchildren who could really benefit from it. Thank you to all involved for offering such a wonderful opportunity to Utah children!
