Rachel — American Fork

Last year we applied for the Utah Fits All Scholarship for our daughter, Rory (14), and son, Ed (12). Both our kids had been attending a local private school for the past two years; a school that aligns with our family’s values as well as having a strong focus on civil liberty and rigorous academic standards. Two summers ago our family experienced our share of troubles with the economy. So much so that I went back to work taking employment at their school in order to have enough funds for them to continue their education there.

Both our children received Utah Fits All but we ultimately only accepted it for our daughter, as our son had the Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship. Utah Fits All has been such a great help to our family. Rory’s tuition has been paid for and we’ve had extra money left over for her to be involved in extra activities such as after-school band, teen author club, school plays, and an online ASL course. As Rory entered high school at her private school this year, it has been helpful to give her many opportunities to explore her interests and to work to narrow down where her heart lies so that she can move toward subjects that she desires to focus on in college and beyond.

I know that we are one of many families who are thankful to have this scholarship so that we have a lot more choice as far as our children’s education is concerned that aligns to our values and expectations.
