When we heard the scholarship was going to be signed by the Governor, my wife and I were super excited! We were finally going to have the means to give our kids an education based on their needs. With this hope we looked around at different education options to find the best school for our kids needs.
Unfortunately, our income was not low enough to qualify for the funds. We are going on one and a half school years now at a private school hoping we will be awarded the scholarship. This has put a big financial strain on our family. Has it been worth it? Yes! Can we continue to do it without the scholarship? Unknown, but likely not. Next school year we will have a third child in school. Before we put our first two boys in private school we were able to save money. Once we placed them in the school, we could save a bit here and there depending on the month. With a third child now old enough for school we will be unable to find that money in the budget, and we will have to draw from our savings account. This means that unless something changes (job, income) we will only be able to do private school for one year more.
Every family is different. It’s why this scholarship money is so critical. That way families can get the education that fits their needs best.
