Education is a top priority in our home. As devout members of our faith, spiritual growth is seen as an integral part of our children’s education. We have been greatly blessed to have a school close by that integrates spiritual and secular learning in a way that has been monumental in our children’s growth and progress. Our three school-aged children are learning to be good stewards of the world around them as well as good citizens through principles taught by our great founding documents. On top of that, they are receiving an education that will prepare them to contribute to our society in very meaningful ways when they enter the workforce.
Such an educational opportunity comes at a great financial cost. With tuition hikes and an increase in cost of living, we have found it more and more difficult to afford to send our children to this school. We struggled this last academic year with the decision to continue enrollment for our oldest child, but we just couldn’t envision him leaving this environment that has been so beneficial to his educational progress. This past year has been especially hard for our family to financially afford sending our three oldest children, but it’s something we can’t afford not to do. Their futures have meant more to us than our own financial well-being to this point.
Having assistance to pay their tuition would be such a blessing to our family. We would no longer struggle with justifying that expense against our other obligations. This would allow our children to continue to receive the education that we know serves their needs in the best way possible. Please consider increasing the funding for the Utah Fits All Scholarship Program so that children like ours can have the opportunity to receive the education that best fits their needs. I only see education getting better in Utah as more and more parents have the choice to send their children to places of learning that would otherwise be prohibitive due to the cost.
