Our family has benefitted greatly from the Utah Fits All Scholarship Program this year. We currently have 4 children who have the scholarship. Our family came together in a unique way with all of our children being adopted through foster care. This means each child came from a unique and challenging background. Being able to have these scholarships to give them the best education we can has been a tremendous blessing for us this year and will benefit them throughout their lives.
Our oldest son is a senior. He has been able to take a Spanish class online, at his own pace, using his scholarship funds. He has a private session with a native speaking teacher whom he connects well with and is making fabulous progress. His computer has helped him to be able to complete his online class and essays with efficiency. He took horseback riding lessons which helped him to gain more confidence in himself.
Our daughter, who is a freshman, loves riding lessons as well. We are so grateful the scholarship allows her to pursue her love of horses that increases her confidence & discipline. She has also been able to develop her musical talent through guitar. She plays it several times a week teaching herself new songs and skills. Her computer is a huge help with her math videos and her language arts lessons. She loves the books we’ve been able to purchase to coincide with her language arts and history courses.
Our 4th grade daughter finds more success with her parents and a customized education. She is learning to love to read this year with our support and that of her semi-private tutor. This is helping her to joyfully make great strides in her reading and writing. She is learning to stay focused through riding lessons, which is a skill she will need throughout her life. She is also exploring her love for movement and music. She is gaining more confidence in her creativity through her art class, and her baking experiences are also teaching her math and reading skills.
Our 3rd grade daughter, like her siblings, has a passion for horses and is benefiting from those experiences as well. She struggles to stay focused on what is most important and needs to develop better social skills. These are things she has been able to start developing more through riding, dance classes, and tutoring. She has even been inspired to start writing her own story! With the art & school supplies we’ve purchased, she is spending a lot of time creating artwork to serve others. This is a huge family value for us, and a joy to see her grow in this area.
