Corie — Vernal

We were extremely blessed to receive the Utah Fits All Scholarship for three of our children. Having the freedom to homeschool with amazing funds has allowed our kids to thrive. Caleb, our oldest, is on the spectrum and is very intelligent with very specific things, but struggles with some basic concepts. Homeschool has allowed him to succeed with all of his schooling. We are able to work at his pace, and he’s able to study what he loves.

All of our kids are beginning to find a true love of learning, and to learn what they love. When they were in public school it was a one-size-fits-all curriculum, and my kids struggled with that. Self esteem has gone through the roof from being in an environment where they know they are loved, and are able to express what they want and need without the fear of being ostracized by peers.

The scholarship has provided the ability to participate in extracurricular activities we could not afford on our own. It’s given them opportunities they would not have been given otherwise. Most importantly it’s provided enough freedom to find out what they don’t like. That’s huge to figure out who you are as an individual, knowing what you like and dislike. Our children are now excitedly planning for their futures. I’ve loved watching them become who they want to be. We credit the opportunities given by the Utah Fits All Scholarship.

Having children on the spectrum, and with very specific neuro-divergent needs has been difficult. But we feel so blessed to have had this opportunity for them to realize that just because they don’t fit the one-size-fits-all mold, they’re not less. The world thrives on diversity, and they’re becoming confident in being unique and in being themselves. I’m happy that their education can now match that uniqueness, and their individual needs. Thank you!!!
